What is PestPatrol
PestPatrol safeguards your computer by detecting and removing spyware,
Trojans, hacker's tools, spyware cookies, and an ever-growing list
of viruses, worms, and malicious java scripts. PestPatrol will
not block junk, or spam, e-mail, nor will the program prevent your
e-mail from entering your computer. Although if an e-mail attachment
contained a virus, trojan, spyware cookie, or malicious Java Script,
you will be instantly alerted to their presence on your computer
when you run a scan.

What platforms
does PestPatrol run on?
PestPatrol runs on all 32-bit Windows platforms: Windows 95, Windows
98, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. PestPatrol
looks for many Unix-specific worms, trojans, and other problem code,
and can scan a Unix drive that is configured with SAMBA. Under SAMBA,
the drive looks just like a Win32 drive and would function as though
it were an exposed network drive. PestPatrol also scans for many
pests specific to DOS or Windows 3.x, and can scan such drives if
networked.

How does PestPatrol
Evaluation copy differ from the licenced
version?
The evaluation version is unable to delete files or quarantine them.
There are no other differences.

Dealing with
purchase or installation problems
Occasionally things don't go to plan. If you encounter difficulties
during a download or during an installation, all is not lost. You

How Does PestPatrol
differ from Anti-virus Products?
Anti-virus products focus on viruses; PestPatrol focuses on every
other sort of computer pest, including ANSI bombs, answering machine
hacks, carding, denial of service attack tools, disassemblers, virus
droppers, hacking guides, hostile Java, icq, mail bombers, password
crackers, phreaking, surreptitious remote control, remote monitoring,
network scanning, sniffers, spoofers, spyware, surveillance, Trojans,
Trojan creation tools, virus creation tools, virus writing tools,
and word lists used by password crackers. As a result, PestPatrol
detects more such pests than anti-virus products.

How do I Uninstall
PestPatrol?
From the Start button located on the bottom left hand corner of your
screen, go to Programs, then to PestPatrol, highlight "Uninstall
PestPatrol". The Un-install screen will guide you through the process,
ending with the step, "PestPatrol needs to shut down to complete
the un-install process." This step is necessary to remove all associated
files that might have been in use during the un-install process.

What is Spyware?
"Spyware" is "any software which employs a user's Internet connection in the
background (the so-called "backchannel") without their knowledge or explicit
permission. Silent background use of an Internet "backchannel" connection must
be preceded by a complete and truthful disclosure of proposed backchannel usage,
followed by the receipt of explicit, informed, consent for such use. Any software
communicating across the Internet absent these elements is guilty of information

Does PestPatrol
protect me from Viruses?
PestPatrol safeguards your computer from trojans, hacker's tools,
spyware cookies, and an ever-growing list of malicious java scripts.
These will be found when you choose to scan your drives using PestPatrol.
PestPatrol will not block junk, or spam, e-mail, nor will the program
prevent your e-mail from entering your computer. Although if an e-mail
attachment contained a trojan, spyware cookie, or malicious Java
Script, you will be instantly alerted to their presence on your computer
if you have PPMemcheck running. PPMemcheck is the memory scanner
which is part of PestPatrol, it will alert you to a pest as soon
as it loads into your computer memory. PestPatrol is designed to
work alongside your anti virus product, not to replace it.

Will PestPatrol
conflict with any other security
program or devices?
PestPatrol has been tested in many environments and it is not known
to conflict with any other existing software -- except Pests, of
course!
